When most folks think of a community garden, they usually think of a place where everybody has their own individual small plot. We take a different approach. We have large gardens that we all share together. We all work together to share the tending, and we share the harvest. It is amazing how much food we grow when we all work together! Many of our members have never gardened before, while others have decades of experience. Everyone is welcome. There is no cost to join. This is great way to share knowledge and make new connections. North Dakota State University Extension is hosting the ninth annual Field to Fork Wednesday Webinar series Feb. 21 through May 1, 2024. The webinars are held online from 2 to 3 p.m. and also archived for later viewing. The Growing Together Cookbook is now available online as both text and pdf format. the new american perspective
We have a heart for New American immigrants. At least 5% of Fargo's population are refugees. Many have fled war, violence, and insecurity in search of hope in the United States. Unfortunately, limited English skills often makes it hard for them to communicate or find jobs to support their families.
Growing Together first started to help immigrants feed their families and connect them with the people, resources, and language learning skills needed to join our community. Today, we have a healthy balance of New and "Not-New" American members. And everyone takes home a share! |
