Become a Program Assistant
Program Assistants support Growing Together Community Gardens through hands-on garden work, community engagement, teamwork, and nonprofit learning opportunities throughout the growing season.
Garden Support
Assist with planting, watering, weeding, pruning, harvesting, and maintaining healthy garden spaces throughout the season.
Market Assistance
Support weekly markets by helping prepare produce, set up displays, and assist community visitors and members.
Seasonal Projects
Contribute to special projects, garden initiatives, children’s programs, and other tasks as needed throughout the season.
Team Coordination
Help organize garden members, support supervisors, and contribute to a positive and collaborative environment.
Community Outreach
Participate in events, educational activities, and outreach efforts that strengthen community connection and engagement.
Engage on Social Media
Use helpful skills like social media, flyer design, photography, Google tools, or video creation to support the organization.





Program Assistants (PAs) Summer 2027
Growing Together Community Gardens is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with ten garden locations throughout Fargo-Moorhead, a children’s garden program, weekly farmers markets, and community events focused on food access, education, and connection. We are seeking Program Assistants (PAs) for the summer growing season to help support gardens, members, events, and nonprofit operations.
This position offers hands-on experience working within a community-based gardening nonprofit while learning about food systems, teamwork, leadership, and community outreach. Training will be provided.
Position Responsibilities

Assist with planting, watering, weeding, pruning, harvesting, and general garden maintenance

Support garden supervisors, leaders, and community members
-
Help coordinate teams and daily garden activities

Assist with farmers markets, outreach events, and educational programs
-
Contribute to children’s garden activities and seasonal projects
-
Support additional nonprofit and garden-related tasks as assigned
Schedule & Availability
-
March-April: Greenhouse work at Concordia
-
May-September: Garden and market season
-
Shifts scheduled between 8 AM – 8 PM
-
Up to 16 hours per week

Flexible scheduling available based on availability
Pay & Employment Details

$17/hour
-
Contract 1099 position (no taxes withheld)

Reliable transportation required to travel between garden sites and events
